East Rochester Families,

Our educators are called upon to provide guidance for students on a variety of topics throughout a school year. We support students during the normal educational process, everyday success and failure, and times of crisis and unrest.

The violent civil unrest that our country has experienced is yet another example of how our staff will be available to students, to answer their questions in an age appropriate way and provide guidance as needed. Our role isn’t to provide an insight into personal beliefs or opinions, yet we need to provide a safe welcoming environment from which children can seek to understand events. Students requiring enhanced support will be assisted by our Diversity Ambassadors and the Pupil Personnel Services staff of counselors, psychologists and our social worker.

Our ER team is committed to providing our students with a respectful, safe and welcoming environment and will continue to play an integral part in ensuring that we are providing proper support for our community's greatest resource, its children.

Thank you,

Jim Haugh

Superintendent of Schools
