Three ER student-athletes attending State Championships for Track & Field

Indoor Track and Field State Competition Three student-athletes from East Rochester Schools will attend the NYSPHSAA State Championship meet in Staten Island on March 4 after competing in the State Qualifiers at Nazareth College on Thursday, February 23.

Jacen Mitchell will attend for the 55 meter hurdle after placing first at the State Qualifiers with a time of 7.78 seconds. The time is a new record for the Wayne Finger Lakes League.

Jalen McCoy (junior) will attend for the 300 meter race after placing second at State Qualifiers with a time of 35.05 seconds, setting a new school record in the process.

Manny Sepulveda (senior) will return to the State Championship meet for the triple jump and the long jump after placing first in both events at State Qualifiers with 47’ 5” in the triple jump and 22’ 11.75” in the long jump. Both are school records, as well as Wayne Finger Lakes League records. Manny is the first student-athlete from East Rochester to return to the State Championship for back-to-back championships since the 2005 event when Leo Smith returned to run the 3200 meters for the second year in a row. Last year, Manny attended the triple jump event and placed 5th with a jump of 44’ 11”.
