As many of you are aware, schools across the country and here in our community are experiencing milk supply chain challenges related to packaging issues. We are receiving updates that the shortages will continue into 2024. At the current time, our milk orders are scheduled for normal deliveries but we anticipate that this carton shortage will affect our school in the very near future.
We recognize that Milk is an essential part of a well balanced school lunch program as well as integral in breakfast items. We are working with our Milk vendor to develop alternative milk delivery systems. We will continue to offer other beverage options such as juice and water, as we continue to work through this issue; however, juice will not be offered as a milk replacement. We will do our best to source other ways to provide milk to all students.
As always, our ER Food Services Department remains dedicated to providing healthy and delicious meals for our students despite supply chain issues. Thank you for your flexibility during this time as we understand this may cause an inconvenience for some families. We thank you for your understanding and patience with us while we work on these alternatives. The district will provide updates on our website as new developments arise in this situation.
