East Rochester Union Free School District was made aware Monday evening that one member of the broadcast team working with Local Cable ECN Channel 12 used inappropriate descriptors about Williamson team members during the live telecast of the East Rochester v. Williamson Boys Varsity Basketball game that evening.

The East Rochester School District stands for equality, respect and dignity in our work with students and our greater school community. The District finds the actions of this game announcer during the broadcast to be offensive and contrary to the ideals we instill and expect from our greater school community. This media member is not an ER school employee nor are they intended to be a representative of ER schools.

It is our hope to continue to live stream game action at ER through either the Districts Sports Video platform Hudl or through local media outlets, if they are able to comply with proper levels of decorum and decency. Until further notice, any televised or streamed game will not have commentators. The East Rochester School District expects that members of the media choosing to telecast school events follow our school district Code of Conduct, as future instances of inappropriate and insensitive language will not be tolerated.
