Mr. Brian Gravelle
Residence: I live in the village of East Rochester with my wife, Melissa, and our three children, all students in the district.
Education: Attended MCC and Empire State University working towards a degree in Integrated Secondary Education; licensed professional teaching assistant; licensed Career and Technical Education teacher.
Employment: Automated Manufacturing and Machining instructor at Monroe One BOCES; typically found in the summers keeping industry knowledge sharp by working at various area manufacturers.
Community Involvement: Involved with a Dreams From Drake, an organization that provides services and counseling for children who have lost a parent or sibling; the Preeclampsia Foundation; SkillsUSA coach, a vocational education club; ERPTO Treasurer.
Comments: I am a dedicated community advocate committed to student success in East Rochester. As an educator, I bring real classroom experience to my understanding of what students need, not just academically, but in their future careers and in life. With nearly two decades of civic advocacy experience, I understand how to organize communities, build coalitions, and make positive change, all skills I intend to bring directly to the Board of Education. As a parent of children with diverse educational needs, I am committed to improving systems which unintentionally challenge our district's families, improving access to Career and Technical Education programs, and working with administration and faculty to implement the NYS Department of Education reforms being rolled out over the coming years. My goal is to help ensure that we make East Rochester the kind of place where children want to go to school and where teachers want to teach.
Ms. Kristina Lantzky-Eaton
Residence: An East Rochester resident with her husband, Lafayette, and three children: Paige, a soon-to-be graduate student at the University of Iowa; Madelin, an East Rochester Class of 2023 graduate now attending St. John Fisher University; and Alex, a junior at East Rochester.
Education: A PhD in Chemistry from the University of Wyoming; A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Physics from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.
Employment: Currently serves as Assistant Dean of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs at the University of Rochester, supporting graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to achieve success; adjunct faculty member at St. John Fisher University.
Community Involvement: Previously served as a member and vice president of the East Rochester Board of Education; member of the shared decision-making team; member of the East Rochester Parent Teacher Organization; volunteer youth soccer coach; host parent for international students.
Comments: I am seeking to serve on the school board to ensure East Rochester continues to provide a high-quality PK–12 education for all students. I am especially committed to supporting the district during the transition to a new superintendent, helping to maintain stability, strengthen collaboration, and ensure continued success for the entire school community.
Mr. Michael Sisson
Residence: East Rochester resident for 20+ years.
Education: Graduated from E. J. Wilson High School in Spencerport in 1990. Earned an M.S. and a B.A. in English and Education from SUNY Geneseo.
Employment: Has served for 31 years as an English teacher in the Canandaigua City School District. Began teaching eighth grade for five years, followed by two years in seventh grade, and has since taught freshmen through seniors at Canandaigua Academy. Has extensive experience co-teaching with special education staff and has taught IB English: Literature for grades 11 and 12 for over 20 years.
Community Involvement: When you are a teacher, your community involvement usually revolves around the district where you work because you want to support the kids that you teach. That is why my community involvement is focused in the Canandaigua area. As I transition into retirement, I want to shift my community involvement to East Rochester, supporting students, teachers, administrators, staff, and programs, and helping our district be the best it can be.
Comments: I moved to East Rochester over twenty years ago, and I thought I was buying a starter home. I liked the walkability of the neighborhood, the parks, and the local businesses. Plus, it was a central location for me, equidistant from the other members of my family. Soon, though, I realized what truly makes East Rochester exceptional is the people who live there. The first snowfall, my neighbor across the street plowed my driveway out of the kindness of his heart. Then, when I had knee surgery, other neighbors brought me treats and helped with walking my dog. Soon, I was doing the same thing, bringing neighbors meals and mowing their lawns when they needed assistance. We became a tight-knit group. No, not just a group–we became a family. It did not take long for me to realize what was once thought to be a starter home was really my forever home. I love being in East Rochester, and, if you elect me, I look forward to bringing the knowledge I have gained teaching for the last 31 years to the Board of Education.
